- Info: The Bill & Bonnie Daniels Fire Hall & Museum (also known as the Minneapolis Fire Museum) features a number of firefighting displays, including apparatus, tools, equipment, photos, patches and more. There are several interactive exhibits for children as well. The volunteer members have preserved the rich history of firefighting from around the Twin Cities metro. The venue can be rented for parties and meetings.

PAWS for Nancy Jean

- Info: This fundraiser was set up to assist Nancy Jean Plehal, wife of Hopkins Firefighter Tim Plehal, who was diagnosed with ALS earlier this summer. The condition has prevented her from working and the the event includes raffles, music, food and drinks to help raise funds for the mounting medical bills the family is facing. Nancy, a pet wellness advocate, has worked at Hopkins area vetrinary offices and owned a pet sitting business before her diagnosis.

NFA Class: Marketing Fire Prevention in Your Community

- Info: The National Fire Academy (NFA) presents a unique opportunity to learn how you can inform and educate community members about the important aspects and challenges of fire and injury prevention. In this two-day course, you will develop a marketing plan for fire prevention using resources from NFA as well as resources already in place in your own community. You will gain valuable knowledge and insight critical to developing, refining and applying your marketing plan in order to outline target hazard risks, identify significant opponents, and present allies available within your community. Taught by NFA instructors with a breadth and depth of experience and resources.

North Star Womens Firefighter Assn. Weekend Conference

- Info: A two-day conference willed with fun, networking and education sponsored by the North Star Womens Firefighter Association. Eight sessions including: Officer Development with Mike Dobesh; Hybrid & Electric Vehicles: In-depth Extrication Training with Brian Wienholz and Chris Richardson; Hazardous Materials – How to Identify and React by Paul Odden and Cooking for Health & Wellness by Patrick Maynard. The cost for the event is $60 and PPE is required for some of the sessions. Hours are Saturday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
