Feb. 5 – Firefighters used a fire extinguisher to contain a small fire at a Fridley home on Tuesday afternoon.
Around 1:40 p.m., an Anoka County Auto Aid assignment was dispatched to the 6300 block of Benjamin Street NE in Fridley for a report of fire in the walls.
Minutes later a Fridley Police officer arrived and reported smoke showing and that the house has been evacuated.
Fridley Chief 2 arrived and reported smoke showing from the front door and assumed command.
Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View (SBM) Engine 1 arrived with Fridley crews and stretched a dry line to the front door. Crews entered the structure and found a small fire and knocked it down using a 2 1/2-gallon water extinguisher.
According to Fridley Patch, the fire was sparked by a cooking operation with oil.
Crews started returning to service within 30 minutes.
