NE Minneapolis Duplex Damaged in Fire

Jan. 10 - Several residents of a duplex is Northeast Minneapolis were displaced after a fire Thursday night.

Engine 2 arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the front door of a two-story duplex at 1515 Washington St. NE around 7:40 p.m. They stretched a tank line to the rear of the structure where they found a porch on fire on the C/D corner of the structure.

Chief 5 assumed command and Rescue 9 began searching the structure.

As Engine 15 established a water supply, Engine 2 reported that the fire was knocked down. Engine 15 prepared to deploy a backup line off Engine 2, but it was not needed.

Ladder 4′s crew threw ground ladders and assisted with searches and opening the eaves around the porch. Engine 11 was assigned to rapid intervention and Chief 4 was incident safety.

Firefighters returned to service by 9 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
