Fire Held to Garage of Apple Valley Home

Jan. 6 - While Apple Valley crews were handling two incidents in their city Sunday evening, a third response turned into a working fire.

Neighbors called 9-1-1 stating that smoke and flames were coming from their neighbor’s garage in the 15300 block of Dunbar Avenur around 6:30 p.m. They reported that the occupants were not home.

Engine 3 arrived to find smoke showing from the garage on the lower level of a two-story, split-level home. The crew deployed a 2 1/2-inch hoseline to start knocking down the fire.

Firefighters from Ladder 3 forced entry through the front door to check for extension in the home and conduct searches.

A pre-connect was deployed into the home as additional crews arrived and a second alarm was called.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes and fire officials said the home received minor smoke damage.

Allina EMS crews provided standby at the scene, but no injuries were reported.

Firefighters from all three Apple Valley stations responded to the scene and the last unit left the scene at 9 p.m.

This was the second working fire in Apple Valley in the last week. On Tuesday, they battled a multiple-alarm fire on 134th Street.
