Sept. 11 - St. Paul firefighters were able to quickly contain a kitchen fire and rescue a dog from a kitchen fire on Tuesday afternoon.
About 4:15 p.m. crews were called to the 1700 block of Ashland Avenue for a kitchen fire in a dwelling and companies found heavy smoke from the 2 1/2-story wood-frame dwelling.
Firefighters from Squad 2 deployed a 1 3/4-inch through the front door to knock down the kitchen fire. The crew from Engine 5 laid a supply line to Squad 2 and then deployed a backup line.
Ladder 20 and Engine 10 performed ventilation of the structure.
As crews brought the fire under control, they removed a dog from the structure.
