July 3 - A fire that broke out in an attached garage at a Arden Hills home was contained before spreading to the home Tuesday afternoon.
Ramsey County dispatchers sent out an all-call for Lake Johanna, with automatic aid from Roseville, for a reported garage fire at 1522 Colleen Ave. at 4:30 p.m. Lake Johanna requested an engine from New Brighton to the scene.
Lake Johanna Fire Marshal 51 arrived to find light smoke showing from a two-stall garage attached to a two-story home. Residents reported that everyone had evacuated the home.
Firefighters from Engine 3 deployed a pre-connect through the front door of the home and entered the garage, according to Fire Marshal Rick Current.
Ladder 4′s crew secured a water supply and assisted with ventilation efforts.
The crew from New Brighton Engine 797 deployed a backup hoseline through the front door where they worked with Engine 3′s crew to bring the fire under control.
“We were able to hold the fire to the garage,” Current said. The home did suffer damage from the smoke.
With temperatures hovering around 100 degrees, command request additional crews from Vadnais Heights and Roseville. A Metropolitan Transit bus brought to the scene to give firefighters a place to keep cool between rotations in the structure and Allina EMS crews stood by at the scene.
Little Canada crews were called to cover the vacated Lake Johanna fire stations during the incident.
