Jan. 12 - Several fire departments were called to the scene of a stubborn fire at a Shakopee home Thursday afternoon.
Crews were called to the 9100 block of 13th Avenue E. around 1 p.m. and reported smoke showing from the one-story dwelling.
Firefighters deployed attack lines from Shakopee Ladder 15 and Savage Engine 26 to make an interior attack. They exited the structure when they encountered spongy floors, according to radio traffic.
Crews utilized axes and saw to cut through the exterior walls to access the basement, where it appears the bulk of the fire was located. Smoke, from brown to gray to white, poured from the man-made openings, as well as the roof of the home as firefighters directed their hoselines into the basement.
Firefighters from Eden Prairie, Prior Lake, Mdewakanton Emergency Services and Savage were on the scene.
