Oct. 27 - Minneapolis firefighters are currently fighting a house fire in South Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Engine 6 arrived to find smoke showing from a side-by-side 2 1/2-story dwelling at 2013 5th Ave. S just before 11:30 a.m. Battalion 3 assumed command and reported that the fire was on the second floor.
Engine 5 laid a supply line to Engine 6 and then stretched a backup hoselines. Ladder 11 was positioned on the A-side of the structure and placed its ladder to the roof.
Engine 17 assumed rapid intervention duties and Battalion 1 was assigned to safety.
According to radio traffic from the scene, Ladder 3 was assigned to search the other side of the structure and crews found no extension.
The fire was knocked down by 11:40 and crews were beginning overhaul and salvage operations.
